Nuropod Auricular Vagal Neuromodulation Device: Clinical Evidence Guide Released

Oct 14, 2026

As auricular vagus nerve stimulation becomes a wider area of clinical research, Parasym releases a guide to the peer-reviewed clinical evidence behind the proprietary AVNT™ technology used in Nuropod.

Sacramento, United States, October 14, 2026 /PressCable/ -- In a recently released guide, Parasym draws attention to the clinical research supporting the auricular vagal neuromodulation technology behind Nuropod, its wearable vagus nerve stimulation device. Developed following more than a decade of research and development, the device uses the company’s proprietary AVNT™ waveform at the tragus, applying a noninvasive approach that has been evaluated across a growing program of clinical studies.

More information about the research is available at https://nuropod.com/pages/scientific-evidence

The latest guide from Parasym comes as transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation is being investigated across an increasingly broad range of research settings. A 2024 scoping review published on PubMed identified 109 studies covering 21 clinical populations, while also finding considerable variation in stimulation methods and study design. That variation makes the technology and protocol used in individual studies an important part of interpreting the resulting evidence.

Parasym’s research program, therefore, centers specifically on its own AVNT method. According to the company, more than 60 studies using its neuromodulation technology have been completed following over $10 million in research and development, with more than 150 research institutions involved in its wider scientific program.

The technology targets the auricular branch of the vagus nerve at the tragus, where the nerve reaches the skin of the outer ear. Gentle electrical pulses are delivered through the earpiece using Parasym’s proprietary waveform, providing a noninvasive route for vagus nerve stimulation without surgery.

The vagus nerve carries signals between the brain and organs including the heart, lungs and gut and contributes to functions associated with stress, rest and recovery. Parasym Head of Research Dr. Elisabetta Burchi says the company’s work is focused on using that existing biological pathway rather than overriding it. “Nuropod doesn't override our biology, but leverages a natural system that we already have to mitigate homeostatic imbalances often caused by our unhealthy lifestyles and the pace of our over-demanding society.”

As per the guide, research using Parasym’s technology has examined both autonomic and cognitive measures. In clinical studies, heart rate variability increased by an average of 18%, while attention improved by an average of 11%.

The latest research has also informed how Nuropod is designed for everyday use, with most users wearing the device for around 30 minutes once or twice daily while carrying out ordinary activities, extending the noninvasive approach beyond laboratory and clinical research settings.
