QBiz Leads AI releases a guide comparing AEO and SEO to help lead-driven businesses decide where to allocate 2026 marketing budgets amid shifting search behaviour and growth in AI-driven platforms.

Cookstown, United Kingdom, September 23, 2026 /PressCable/ -- QBiz Leads AI has published a guide comparing Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO), aimed at helping lead-driven businesses decide where to direct marketing budget through 2026. The guide sets out a practical framework for owners weighing traditional ranking work against newer strategies built around AI platforms, arriving as search behaviour shifts faster than many marketing plans account for.
The shift is measurable, not speculative. Gartner forecast in February 2024 that traditional search engine volume would fall 25% by 2026; that deadline has now passed, and U.S. organic search traffic fell 2.5% year-over-year by January 2026, a real decline but far short of that prediction (Graphite data, via Search Engine Land). The more telling number sits elsewhere: AI Overviews now appear on roughly a third of informational search queries, the exact segment most lead-driven businesses compete in (Seer Interactive, April 2026). For businesses that rely on search traffic to generate leads, the shift changes which channels deserve investment.
The financial stakes behind that shift are considerable. A 2026 survey of more than 250 enterprise marketing leaders found 94% plan to increase AEO/GEO investment this year, with enterprises already allocating an average of 12% of digital budgets to AEO in 2025 (Conductor, State of AEO/GEO Report). That divergence in where budget is heading is why many businesses are re-examining allocation rather than assuming past patterns will hold.
The guide clarifies how the two disciplines relate rather than compete. SEO focuses on ranking pages within search results, while AEO optimizes content so it can be cited within AI-generated answers, and the guide positions AEO as an extension of SEO foundations rather than a replacement for them. A page that ranks well can still fail as a source for an AI-generated answer if its content does not directly address the questions buyers ask.
The gap between the two outcomes is measurable. Ahrefs' analysis of 300,000 keywords, comparing December 2023 with December 2025, found that the presence of an AI Overview correlates with a 58% lower click-through rate for the top-ranking organic result. Separately, Seer Interactive's most recent tracking data, spanning January 2025 to February 2026 across 53 brands and 5.47 million queries, found that being cited within an AI Overview delivers 120% more organic clicks per impression than an uncited appearance on the same result, even though cited results still trail a page with no AI Overview at all by 38%.
"We built this guide because most businesses we talk to are still budgeting for search the way they did three years ago," said Eddie Eastwood, Founder of QBiz Leads AI. "Ranking and being cited by an AI system are two different jobs, and most sites are only set up to do one of them. This guide is about closing that gap."
Businesses reviewing their 2026 marketing plans can use the guide to weigh AEO and SEO investment against their own goals and current online presence.
